‘Stand Up India’ Scheme:

  • The ‘Stand Up India’ scheme is to be implemented with the aim of providing innovation and entrepreneurship training to 6 lakh students studying in 2,000 educational institutions in Tamil Nadu.

Kalaignar Craft Scheme:

  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will launch the Kalaignar Craft Scheme on April 18 in Kundrathur, Chennai.
  • As the Vishwakarma scheme introduced by the central government for artisans prevents students from pursuing higher education and promotes clan trades, the Chief Minister announced a new scheme called Kalaignar Craft Scheme that includes all artisans without social discrimination.
  • While the minimum age limit in the central government scheme is 18, in our scheme, the age limit has been set at 35 years so as not to affect the higher education of the youth.
  • While in the Vishwakarma scheme, loans are provided without investment subsidy for 18 types of handicrafts, in our scheme, loans are provided with 25 percent investment subsidy for 25 types of industries.
  • While the Central Government scheme provides loans in two installments, our scheme provides loans in a single installment.
  • This scheme will be launched by the Chief Minister on the 18th at Kundrathur in Kanchipuram district.

April 10: World Homeopathy Day.

  • World Homeopathy Day is celebrated on April 10 every year to honour homeopathy and its contributions to medicine.
  • The birth anniversary of Dr.Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the pioneer of homeopathy, is commemorated on this day.

  • Mahavir Jayanti is observed on April 10.
  • Mahavir Jayanti, an important festival of the Jain religion, is celebrated.

Important Facts:

  1. The institute will set up a Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence at IIT Madras in collaboration with California-based Driven deep tech startup Zero Labs and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation.
  2. The Union Cabinet has approved the purchase of 26 Rafale fighter jets from France for the Indian Navy at a cost of about Rs 64,000 crore.
  3. These fighter jets are to be procured to operate on the indigenously built ISS Vikrant.
  4. 36 Rafale fighter jets have already been procured for the Indian Air Force from France’s Dassault Aviation.
  5. The President of Slovakia has gifted the Slovak translation of the Upanishads of Indian Philosophy to the Indian President, who is visiting Slovakia.
  6. A Rs 1,000 crore electronics manufacturing services project, including laptops, is to be launched in Oragadam, Kanchipuram district.
