Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024:

  • On August 9 last year, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024 was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
  • The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024 was passed in the Lok Sabha.
  • The Central Government brought this bill to replace the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925.
  • The bill attempts to modernize the rules governing maritime freight by aligning India’s maritime law with international conventions.

Kasampatty Scared grove as  Biodiversity Heritage Site:

  • Kasampatty in Dindigul district has been declared the 2nd Biodiversity Heritage Site in Tamil Nadu.
  • The rare species of trees, herbal plants, birds, etc. here will be protected.
  • With this, Kasampatty has got the special status of being the 2nd Protected Heritage Biodiversity Site in Tamil Nadu after Arittapatti in Madurai district.
