Coal production in the country crosses 1 billion:
- Coal production in the current financial year has crossed 1 billion (100 crore) tonnes.
- India, the world’s 5th largest economy, is heavily used as a fuel for power generation and various sectors.
- Coal is the country’s main source of fuel.
- About 55 percent of the fuel requirement depends on coal.
- 74 percent of the electricity in the country is generated by coal-based power plants.

Purple Fest – 2025:
- A ‘Purple Fest’ has been organized on March 21, 2025 at the Amrit Udyan in the Rashtrapati Bhavan to celebrate the talents, achievements and aspirations of the differently-abled.
- The ‘Purple Festival’, organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, aims to create awareness about various disabilities and their impact on people’s lives, and to promote understanding, acceptance and inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.
March 22: World Water Day
- World Water Day is observed annually on March 22 to raise awareness about the importance of freshwater resources and to support sustainable management of freshwater resources.
- It was recommended to celebrate it at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
