Prime Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme:

  • Tamil Nadu has been provided with a central financial assistance of Rs 11,185 crore under the Prime Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme.
  • The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme was created with the objective of providing financial assistance for housing to the economically weaker sections and middle class families living in urban areas.
  • The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) is a major housing scheme of the Government of India.
  • It was launched in 2015 with the aim of providing housing to all in urban areas.

Vembakottai excavation: Tin, terracotta medal unearthed:

  • The first lead has been found at a depth of 102 centimeters in the 3rd phase of excavation near Vembakottai.
  • The 3rd phase of excavation has been underway in the Vijayakarishalkulam Mettukadu area near Vembakottai in Virudhunagar district since June 18.
  • More than 3,500 artifacts, including gold coins, copper coins, clay figurines, chess pieces, glass beads, round chips, and conch bracelets, have been discovered so far in the 3rd phase of excavation.

  • International Day of Happiness is observed on March 20 every year.

  • World Sparrow Day is celebrated on March 20 around the world to create awareness about sparrow conservation.

  • World Oral Health Day is celebrated on March 20 to create awareness about oral health.
