Development of advanced nuclear reactors:

  • India and France plan to jointly develop advanced nuclear reactors.
  • India has set a target of achieving 100 GW of power generation capacity through nuclear energy by 2047.
  • A preliminary document was signed regarding the project to jointly develop small nuclear reactors and advanced nuclear reactors.
  • ‘SMR’ is a small-scale nuclear fission reactor.
  • Such small nuclear reactors can be manufactured in a factory and installed at another location.

  • India ranked 96th in the list of most corrupt countries last year, scoring 38 points.
  • In this list, India was ranked 93rd with 39 points in 2023 and 85th with 40 points in 2022.
  • In this, countries with a score of ‘100’ are considered to be free from corruption, and ‘0’ points are considered to be highly corrupt countries.
  • Denmark, with a score of 90, has been the most corrupt country in the ranking for the 7th consecutive year since 2018.
  • Following Denmark, Finland is at 2nd place with 88 points, and Singapore is at 3rd place with 84 points.
  • Transparency International publishes the corruption ranking list annually.
  • South Sudan is at the bottom of the list.

  • February 13 is celebrated as the birthday of Sarojini Naidu, the Nightingale of India.

  • Sarojini Naidu is credited with being the first woman governor of independent India.
  • In 1931, Sarojini Naidu attended the Round Table Conference in London along with Mahatma Gandhi.
