India’s First White Tiger Breeding Center:

  • India’s first white tiger breeding center is to be set up in the Govindgarh area of Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has granted approval for the center.
  • The white tiger breeding center will be part of ongoing conservation efforts under the revamped master plan of the Maharaja Martand Singh Zoo and White Tiger Safari in Mukundpur, Satna.
  • Madhya Pradesh has earned national recognition as the “Tiger State” due to its large tiger population.
  • The state is also recognized as the “Leopard State” for having the highest number of leopards, following the introduction of leopards in Kuno National Park.
  • The world’s first white tiger safari was established in 2016 in Mukundpur, Satna district.

Argentina Withdraws from the World Health Organization:

  • Following the United States, Argentina has announced its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • This decision was made due to disagreements in health management during the pandemic.
  • Argentina had been contributing $8.75 million to the WHO, which made up 0.11% of the organization’s funding.
  • Argentina’s president is Javier Milei. The WHO, a specialized agency of the United Nations, is responsible for international public health, with its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • It was established on April 7, 1948.

Greenland Bans Foreign Political Donations:

  • Political parties in Greenland have imposed a ban on receiving foreign donations. Greenland, which is rich in mineral resources and part of Denmark, was granted autonomy in 1979.
  • The island, which is covered by ice on 80% of its land area, is strategically located between the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, making it important to countries like the USA, Russia, and China.
  • Greenland currently operates as a self-governing territory and was given the opportunity to gain independence from Denmark through a referendum in 2009.
  • The current Prime Minister of Greenland is Múte Bourup Egede.
