India Contributes ₹328 Crore to UN General Budget
- India has contributed ₹328 crore ($37.64 million) to the United Nations (UN) as part of its share for the regular budget for the year 2025.
- By making its full contribution on time under the UN General Assembly budget, India has joined the honor list of 35 countries.
- Member nations of the UN are required to contribute their financial share at the beginning of each financial year, once every three years.
- In this regard, only 35 member nations, including India, have paid their full contributions on time.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme
- Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a central government initiative aimed at providing medical assistance and healthcare facilities to underprivileged sections.
- This paperless scheme offers cashless health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh.
Every year, April 30 is observed as Ayushman Bharat Diwas. - Ayushman Bharat, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), is a government initiative for providing healthcare to economically weaker sections.
- Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, this flagship national health protection scheme is funded by the Government of India.
- The Senior Citizens Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) cater to poor and rural underprivileged families.
- Covering nearly 50 crore Indians, the scheme aims to provide secondary and tertiary healthcare protection as a completely cashless service for disadvantaged sections.
- PMJAY e-card holders can avail of up to ₹5 lakh insurance coverage per family at any enlisted public or private healthcare facility across the country.
National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme
- The central government has announced that the names of 1.55 crore workers who were employed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) between 2022 and 2024 have been removed.
- The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, also known as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), ensures employment opportunities for people in rural areas.
- Its objectives include improving the livelihood of rural populations, providing legal rights to unskilled laborers, and creating public assets.
- This scheme has been in effect since May 25, 2005.
Swachh Bharat Mission
- The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, officially known as the Clean India Mission, is a nationwide campaign launched by the Indian government in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management.
- It is a revamped version of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, which was initiated in 2009.
- This initiative was launched by the Indian government with the goal of making India “open defecation free” (ODF) by October 2, 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, through the construction of toilets.
