India’s Best Bank: International Award for SBI

  • State Bank of India has been selected as the best bank in India for the year 2024 by the US-based economic magazine ‘Global Finance’.
  • SBI Chairman CS Reddy received this award at the International Fund (IMF) and World Bank Conference held in Washington recently.
  • Annually, Global Finance ranks the best banks in different countries of the world based on their service quality, governance, operations and financial management skills.

Ayushman Bharat Free Medical Insurance:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a free medical insurance scheme under the central government’s ‘Ayushman Bharat’ scheme to cover all senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
  • Ayushman Bharat scheme provides medical insurance up to Rs.5 lakh.
  • Through this scheme free medical insurance is provided to the poor and needy people.
  • Senior citizens who have taken insurance from private insurance companies can also join this scheme.
  • Prime Minister Modi is also set to launch a U website that will record the correct administration of vaccines to women and children.
  • This vaccination registration program has been started on the model of the ‘Go-Win’ website which was started to register vaccinations during the Corona period.

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme:

  • The Union Ministry of Rural Development has informed that no retrenchment measures have been taken in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme / 100 Day Job Scheme.
  • The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 was enacted in September.
  • Originally introduced as the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, it was renamed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in 2009 on Gandhiji’s birthday.
  • Under this scheme, rural adults who are willing to do public work will be given compulsory unskilled manual labour employment for 100 days in a financial year with low government wages.

  • International Animation Day is celebrated on October 28.
  • Recognizes the art and craft of animation, highlighting its cultural impact and creativity.

  1. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a scholarship scheme for students studying Sanskrit in Uttar Pradesh.
  2. A two-wheeler awareness rally organized by Kauvery Hospital and Women’s Motor Sport Club for the eradication of breast cancer in which 250 women participated has entered the Asian Book of Records.
  3. The government of Pakistan, which is caught in a severe economic crisis, continues to receive loans from friendly countries including China and from organizations such as the World Bank and International Fund.

  5. India won 24 medals including 6 gold, 9 silver and 9 bronze at the International Para Badminton Tournament held in Japan.
  6. Sivarajan Solaimalai won the men’s singles SH6 category and Sudarsan Saravanakumar & Muthuswamy won gold in doubles.
  7. China’s Zheng Qinwen won the Japan Open women’s tennis title.
