Capital city development works in Amaravati:

  • Telangana became the 29th state of the country on June 2, 2014 after splitting from the united Andhra Pradesh.
  • As per the Andhra Reorganization Act enacted at that time, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were allowed to function for a period not exceeding 10 years with Hyderabad as their common capital.
  • Accordingly, since June 2, Hyderabad is the capital of Telangana only.
  • In Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati was proposed as the capital and work was started.
  • Amaravati will serve as the legislative capital, Kannur as the judicial capital and the port city of Visakhapatnam as the administrative capital.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG):

  • CNG is produced by compressing natural gas containing mainly CH4 methane.
  • This reduces the capacity at atmospheric pressure to about one percent.
