Pune Airport Renamed:

  • The state cabinet has approved the renaming of Maharashtra’s Pune International Airport as Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Pune International Airport.
  • The Maharashtra government has honored the 17th century saint Tukaram Maharaj by naming the Pune Airport after him.
  • Tukaram was very much involved in Bhakti movement.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN):

  • The scheme was launched on 24 February 2019 with an aim to meet the financial needs of small and marginal farmers (SMFs), help them take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities and household needs.
  • Under the Prime Minister’s Farmers Grant Scheme, farmers are given Rs 6,000 annually in three installments of Rs 2,000 to purchase inputs.

79th Session of UN General Assembly:

  • The 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly was held.
  • The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization with the objectives of maintaining world peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, maintaining international cooperation, and being a center for coordinating the activities of nations.
  • The UN system was established after World War II with the aim of preventing future wars.
  • The UN system was adopted on 25 June 1945 and entered into force on 24 October 1945.
  • It is headquartered in New York City with major offices in Geneva, Nairobi, Vienna, and Den Haag.

  • ‘World Rivers Day’ is observed annually on the fourth Sunday of September to create awareness about the importance of rivers in protecting the environment.

  • The purpose of World Maritime Day is to appreciate the importance of the maritime industry and underline the importance of maritime safety, marine environment, security and shipping.

  1. The film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ has become India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 97th Oscars next year.
  2. Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said that the number of Internet users in India has increased by 95 crores.
  3. The grand finale of Miss Universe India 2024 was held on Sunday in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Rhea Singha from Gujarat has won the title of Miss Universe India.
  4. 5 professors from Trichy Bharathidasan University have been included in the Stanford University Elsevier ranking list.
  5. CM Stalin inaugurated the mini tidal parks set up in Thanjavur and Salem.
  6. Two Russian cosmonauts, along with an American astronaut, returned to Earth aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft from the International Space Station.
  7. The 4th Summit of the QUAD Alliance, which includes India, USA, Japan and Australia, was held in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.
