4th Summit of QUAD Federation:

  • India, USA, Japan and Australia are members of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, a conference held in Wilmington, Delaware, USA.
  • The ‘QUAD’ is an alliance formed in 2007 by the four countries namely USA, Japan, India and Australia.
  • The Quad was set up to allow member states to operate independently in the areas covered by the Indo-Pacific Ocean.

India-Jomani to expand cooperation in clean energy sector:

  • India-Japan cooperation is guided by the strategy of ‘Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development’.
  • It was established in 2022 following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Olaf Scholz.
  • India-Jomani to launch global renewable energy investment platform
  • This new initiative was launched on 16th September last in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat.
  • With Jomani funding, metro rail projects have been launched in metro cities like Mumbai, Surat and Ahmedabad.
  • The two countries have decided to enhance cooperation in areas including renewable energy, urban development and agro-ecology.

Foreign Exchange Reserves:

  • Foreign exchange reserves are the pool of assets held by a country’s central bank, primarily in foreign currencies.
  • These reserves ensure economic stability, boost the national currency and act as a financial cushion to facilitate settlement of international debts.
  • Foreign exchange is a way for a country to stabilize the value of its currency by linking it to another country’s exchange rate.
  • Forex trading is the exchange of one currency for another currency in order to make a profit from the trade.
  • The Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) is a law enacted in India in 1973.
  • This bill was created with the objective of regulating payments and foreign exchange. The FERA came into force on January 1, 1974.

  • World Rhino Day was first announced by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in South Africa in 2010.
