Laser weapon system successfully tested to destroy drones:

  • The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested a laser weapon system that can destroy drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in an instant.
  • The DRDO has tested the 30 kW MK-2(A) laser-guided energy weapon system in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
  • This indigenously developed weapon system attacked and destroyed drones from a distance.
  • The weapon system also intercepted several drone attacks and destroyed surveillance sensors.

India, 9 African countries joint naval exercise:

  • A 6-day joint naval exercise between India and 9 African countries has begun in Tanzania.
  • Mutual, Comprehensive Progress (Madasagar) for security and development in all regions is Prime Minister Modi’s new vision.
  • Under the broad framework of this vision, for the first time, India and 9 African countries jointly launched a joint naval exercise in the Dar-es-Salaam waters of Tanzania.

  • It aims to promote public awareness and understanding of quantum science and quantum technology around the world.

Ambedkar’s birth anniversary to be celebrated as Equality Day:

  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that Ambedkar’s birth anniversary will be celebrated as Equality Day.
