Best police station in the country: Patapur, Odisha
- The ranking list of police stations across the country is announced annually by the Union Home Ministry.
- Patapur police station in Odisha’s Ganjam district has been named as one of the top three police stations in the country in 2024 by the Union Home Ministry.
- The ranking is judged on more than 150 different parameters such as crime rate, investigation and resolution of cases, infrastructure and public service.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah will present the trophy to Patapur police station at the police department conference to be held on November 29 in Bhubaneswar.

Dedicated economic center for Tamils worldwide:
- The 11th World Economic Forum concluded in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital.
- A resolution was passed at the World Tamil Economic Conference to establish a World Tamil Economic Center in 100 world cities where Tamils live the most.
- A resolution was passed in the conference to take action by India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius and South Africa to make Tamil the official language of the UN.
- A resolution was passed in the conference to establish a global trading council for Tamils and banks to provide business loans to Tamils.
- Resolutions were passed including asking the Tamil Nadu government to provide five acres of land and one crore rupees for the World Tamil Center in Tamil Nadu and supporting the Tamil Nadu government which has set a target of one trillion investment in Tamil Nadu.
Successful Test of ‘Hypsonic’ Missile:
- India’s first long-range ‘hypersonic’ missile with nuclear-capable range of more than 1,500 km was test-fired.
- With this, India also joins the list of certain countries that have a missile that can strike at high speed and penetrate various air defence systems.
- Russia and China are leading the world in developing hypersonic missiles.
- The US is actively working on developing hypersonic missiles under its ambitious program.
- Countries like France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Israel have also taken forward such projects.
- Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) under India’s first long-range hypersonic missile development programme.
- Hypersonic missiles, which can typically travel at five times the speed of sound, are capable of changing course midway through their journey to their target.
- DRDO has already developed long range missiles including Prithvi, Akash, Agni.
16th Finance Commission Committee at Chennai:
- A Central Commission is set up under Article 280 of the Constitution of India to distribute funds between the Central and State Governments.
- This high-powered finance commission committee has to visit all the states once in 5 years.
- The first Finance Commission of India was constituted in 1951 by the President of India to function from 1952 to 1957.
- This commission was headed by Kshitish Chandra Neogy
- State Finance Commission is a constitutional body created under Article 280 in all the states of India under the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act of 1992.
- As per the constitution, the commission is appointed every five years and consists of a chairman and four members.
