One Nation, One Election’:

  • The central government is going to bring 3 bills related to the ‘One Nation, One Election’ scheme.
  • The central government has accepted the recommendations of the Central Committee to conduct simultaneous polls for the Lok Sabha, Legislative Assemblies and local bodies.
  • The One Country, One Election scheme aims to hold simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies and local bodies.
  • The committee led by former President Ramnath Govind sent a report on “One Nation, One Election”.
  • The plan calls for simultaneous assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the country, which the government supports to reduce election costs and improve governance.

Ayushman Bharat Scheme:

  • The Union Health Ministry has directed states and Union Territories to encourage senior citizens aged 70 years or above to join the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme.
  • PMJAY scheme was launched by the Prime Minister on September 23, 2018, this health insurance scheme covers around fifty crore citizens in India.
  • Considered one of the largest health programs in the world, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana aims to extend coverage to more than 50 crore Indian citizens, particularly the economically disadvantaged.
  • Ayushman Bharat Yojana – The National Health Care Scheme has now been renamed as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
  • It plans to make secondary and tertiary healthcare completely free of charge for the underprivileged sections of the society.
