Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme 2.0′:

  • The central government has announced that the direct tax problem resolution program 2.0 will start on October 1.
  • Announced in the Budget 2024-25, the scheme will lead to resolution of 2.7 crore direct tax issues worth Rs 35 lakh crore pending at various stages.
  • This scheme can be used to resolve direct tax related cases pending from 22nd July 2024 including Supreme Court, High Court, Income Tax Tribunals etc.
  • Last year, 2020, Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas 1.0 was introduced.
  • 1991 – The Tax Reforms Committee was set up under Dr. Raja Chelliah to reform the direct and indirect tax laws.

Organization of Lokpal:

  • Lokpal is an independent statutory body established under Section 3 of the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, 2013.
  • Lokpal and Lok Ayukta Act, 2013′ was passed by our Parliament and the Act came into force from 16.01.2014.
  • Lokpal Bill, Prime Minister, other Ministers, M.P. s and provides for filing corruption complaints against Group A, B, C and D officials of the Central Government with the Ombudsman.
  • Maharashtra was the first state to introduce a Lok Ayukta institution through the Lok Ayukta and Upa-Lokayukta Act, 1971.
  • The Lok Ayukta of the state is appointed by the Governor of the state after the consultation of a committee consisting of the Chief Minister, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Leader of the Opposition, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.
  • The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has passed the Tamil Nadu Lok Ayukta Act, 2018.
