UPI Payment Mode: India

  • 40 percent of the world’s electronic payments take place in India.
  • The payment system through UPI was introduced in the year 2016.
  • UPI money transfer system has been introduced in 7 countries namely Bhutan, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.
  • The UPI transaction limit has been raised to Rs 5 lakh for tax payments, stock market investments, etc. It came into effect from yesterday.
  • For certain things like stock market investment, insurance premium, the limit is Rs 2 lakh.

Su-30 fighter jets: Armenia

  • Armenia has sought India’s help to upgrade Su-30 fighter jets.
  • Russia manufactures SU fighter jets and exports them to various countries.
  • These SU fighter jets have been purchased by various countries including India and Armenia and integrated into their air forces.
  • India manufactures equipment such as rocket systems, artillery guns, and weapons detection radars to be integrated into the SU-30 fighter jets and uses them in its SU-type fighter jets.

September 20: International University Sports Day

  • In 2015 the International University Sports Federation (FISU) made a recommendation to UNESCO to observe an international day for university sports.

  1. The state government formed a committee headed by Dr. Sapna Mukherjee to study menstrual leave in Karnataka.
  2. The state government has decided to provide 6 days menstrual leave with pay to women working in private and public sector organizations in Karnataka.
  3. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Train’ service between Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat for the first time in the country.
  4. The third ‘World Food India’ conference is being held in Delhi.
  5. Madhya Pradesh’s Indore has topped the cleanliness survey for the seventh time in a row, while Bhopal is the cleanest state capital in the country.
  6. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign launched by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management.
  7. India defeated China to win the Asian Champions Trophy for the 5th time which held on September 8 in Hulunbuir China.
