Appointment of Election Commissioners as per the new law:
- The Election Commission of India will consist of a Chief Election Commissioner and 2 Election Commissioners.
- The Election Commissioners were appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Central Government.
- The senior-most of the two Election Commissioners was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner.
- The Supreme Court, which ruled on March 2, 2023, in a case filed in the Supreme Court against this practice, ordered the formation of a committee comprising the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to appoint the Chief Election Commissioner and 2 Election Commissioners.
- The Central Government enacted a new law to include a Union Minister and the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha as members of the Election Commissioners Selection Committee headed by the Prime Minister, and filled the 2 vacant posts of Election Commissioners.
- Under the new Act of 2023 brought by the Central Government, the Central Government appointed Gyanesh Kumar as the first Chief Election Commissioner on February 17.

- World Hemophilia Day is observed every year on April 17 to increase awareness about hemophilia and other hereditary bleeding disorders.
