Lok Adalat services online for the first time in the country:
- Kerala has become the first state to provide Lok Adalat services online (People’s Court).
- Kerala has introduced Lok Adalat services online with the aim of making it easier for the marginalized community to access the justice system.
- It has introduced the facility of filing petitions online and appearing for hearings online.
- Lok Adalat, also known as the People’s Court, is a court created by the Government of India to resolve people’s problems through peace and reconciliation.
- Indian courts can refer cases pending before them to People’s Courts for amicable resolution, either on the basis of the wishes of the petitioners or voluntarily.
- Lok Adalat was established in 1987 by the Legal Services Authority Act.
