BIMSTEC Summit:

  • Prime Minister Modi is in Thailand to attend the 6th BIMSTEC Summit.
  • The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) brings together seven South and Southeast Asian countries bordering the Bay of Bengal – India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand – for multilateral cooperation.
  • The summit of the grouping will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 2nd April to 4th
  • This will be the first direct meeting of the leaders of BIMSTEC member countries since the 4th summit held in Nepal in 2018.
  • The last summit was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in March 2022.

“Fiscal Health Index (FHI) 2025”:

  • The NITI Aayog has launched the “Fiscal Health Index (FHI) 2025” to assess the fiscal health of 18 states in India.
  • The index analyzes the fiscal performance of states and guides reforms for sustainable economic growth.
  • Odisha tops the list with the highest index score of 67.8.

April 3: Independent Artists Day.

  • Independent Artists Day is celebrated annually on April 3.

Important Facts:

  1. 10 MoUs have been signed between the two countries to implement social development projects in Nepal with India’s financial assistance of Rs 39 crore.
  2. The 6th BIMSTEC Summit is being held in Bangkok, Thailand.
  3. Privately owned Bandhan Bank has signed an agreement with the Indian Air Force to provide salary savings accounts for security forces.
  4. Jio has been selected as the Telecom Company of the Year 2024.
  5. Under the 15th Finance Commission, a sum of Rs 2,791 crore has been provided to Tamil Nadu in 2023-24.
  6. A ‘golden bead’ has been discovered in the 3rd phase of excavations at Vembakottai in the Virudhunagar district.
  7. This bead has a circumference of 6 mm, a thickness of 4.7 mm, and a weight of 22 mg.
