India’s Rich List:

  • Hurun has released the list of India’s richest people.
  • Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has been pushed out of the world’s top 10 richest people, but he continues to be India’s number 1 richest person.
  • Roshni Nadar of HCL Technologies has become the fifth richest woman in the world.
  • She has also become the first Indian woman to make it to the top 10 list of the world’s richest women.
  • India has ranked third in the list of countries with the most billionaires in the world.
  • The United States is at the top of the list of countries with the most billionaires in the world, followed by China.

India-Russia joint naval exercise:

  • Russia and India have been conducting the “Indira” exercise for more than 20 years.
  • The aim of the exercise is to improve the interoperability of the two navies.
  • India conducts joint military exercises every year to improve its defence capabilities and enhance international cooperation.
  • This year, the Russian Navy will participate in a joint maritime exercise with the Indian Navy.

Reducing child mortality rate: UN praises India

  • The UN has praised India’s efforts in reducing preventable child deaths, saying that they are exemplary.
  • The UN has also pointed out that India has saved millions of young lives through investments in the health system and the Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme.
  • Five countries, India, Nepal, Senegal, Ghana and Burundi, are doing well in reducing preventable child deaths.
  • The rate of deaths within the first 28 days of birth has also decreased by 61 percent.
  • The number of stillbirths has decreased by one-third.
