Mumps vaccine in the National Vaccination Schedule:
- The Public Health Department has urged the inclusion of the MMR measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine in the national vaccination schedule due to the increasing incidence of mumps.
- Mumps, a disease that spreads among children and adolescents, is spread by a paramyxovirus.
- It causes swelling in the area between the ears and jaw.
- Such swelling in the salivary glands can cause severe pain and fever.
- The measles, rubella vaccine, also known as MR, is provided under the national vaccination schedule.
