Shanghai Cooperation (SCO) Summit:
- A meeting of the Heads of State of the member countries of the SCO is scheduled to be held in Pakistan on October 15 and 16.
- A team led by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will participate in this on behalf of India.
- India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are members of SCO Organization.
- After the SCO Summit, the Organization’s second important consultative meeting will be the Conference of Heads of State of its Member States.
- Headquartered in Beijing, China, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a political, economic, and security organization of the Eurasian region.
- It was established in the year 2001.
- This organization was started by China in 1996 under the name of Shanghai Five with Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
- The SCO emerged as a regional security organization through the 2005 Astana Declaration.
PM-Kisan Scheme:
- Prime Minister Modi will release Rs 20,000 crore as 18th tranche for farmers under PM-Kisan scheme.
- The PM-Kisan scheme was launched in 2019 to provide financial assistance of Rs 6,000 in three annual installments to farmers with up to two hectares of land.
- Through the 18th tranche, the financial assistance provided so far under the PM-Kisan scheme will increase to Rs 3.45 lakh crore.
- Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana Scheme (PM-Kisan) is a scheme introduced by the Central Government to provide financial assistance to economically weaker farmers in the country.
Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme:
- The Madras High Court said that the government officials were not performing their duties properly in implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
- The Government of India passed the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005, an employment guarantee scheme in September 2005.
- The Act provides a statutory guarantee of one hundred days of wage employment in a financial year to adults in rural households who are job-seeking and willing.
- The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme 100 Days of Employment was launched with the aim of uplifting the livelihood of poor families in rural areas by providing guaranteed salaried employment to every family for at least 100 days in a financial year.
