Special Gram Sabha:
- The Central Panchayat Raj Ministry has decided to hold special Gram Sabha meetings on October 2 Gandhi Jayanti with a view to preparing development plans for the financial year 2025-26.
- These special gram sabha meetings will be held in 2.55 lakh gram panchayats across the country.
- 20,000 college students will be imparted training under the Panchayat Raj Ministry’s ‘People’s Projects Campaign’ for programs to improve gram panchayats and inclusiveness.
- IIT Delhi is involved in the preparation of rural development plans for the financial year 2025-26 by integrating the students working under the ‘Unnatha Bharat Abhiyan Project’ and ‘Planning of Model Village Panchayats’.
- 75 saplings will be planted in each gram panchayat under the initiative of planting a tree in the name of mother.
- Then the pledge will be taken based on themes like ‘Cleanliness’, ‘Drug Free India’.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme:
- Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of transforming rural development processes, empowering knowledge institutions, building an inclusive India framework and bringing about a paradigm shift in the country’s education and research programmes.
- The main objective of UBA is to use environmentally friendly technologies, which are easily accessible to people in villages and help them lead a dignified livelihood and provide them with shelter, food and basic necessities.
- Formulate development agenda within higher education institutions and provide training to meet national needs, especially among rural population.
- It also aims to emphasize the need for fieldwork and stakeholder interaction to shape the basis of higher education with societal benefits.
- It aims to bring new ideas and publications based on research to create more professional opportunities.
- With the help of higher education institutions, rural people can get the professional resources they need to excel in education.
- Helping bring bright opportunities in science, engineering and technology and management to rural India.
- It also aims to foster a sense of collective destiny between the urban and rural parts of the country.
Natural Death Euthanasia: (Passive Euthanasia)
- The Union Health Ministry has issued new draft guidelines for euthanasia of patients by natural death (passive euthanasia).
- If a person suffering from health problems has reached an irreversible or incurable condition and death is inevitable for him, in the interests of the affected persons, planned euthanasia is illegal in India by administering poison injections etc.
- Another type of euthanasia is euthanasia, which involves withholding feeding, medication, etc., and allowing them to die naturally.
BIMSTEC:
- Minister Jaishankar, who went to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meeting, in New York City, USA participated in the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the BIMSTEC organization, which is a member of 7 countries including India.
- The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) is an international organization comprising seven countries located in South Asia and South East Asia.
- Its member countries are Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan.
- These are all countries around the Bay of Bengal.
- A sub-regional organization called BIST – EC (Bengal, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand Economic Co-operation) was formed on June 6, 1997 in Bangkok.
- Myanmar became a full member on 22 December 1997 and the organization was renamed BIMST – EC.
September 29: World Heart Day
- World Heart Day is an international campaign held on September 29 to raise awareness among people about heart diseases.
