8 Agreements between India-Malaysia:
- Eight agreements were signed, including a major agreement to promote the employment of Indian workers in Malaysia and protect their interests.
- India-Malaysia bilateral trade is carried out in local currency (India-Rupee, Malaysia-Ringgit).
- Work is also underway to link India’s UPI with PayNet, Malaysia’s eighth transaction platform.
- Malaysia is an important partner of India in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Indian Ocean countries.
- It was decided to set up the Thiruvalluvar seat at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
- It has also been decided to set up an Ayurvedic seat at Tunku Abdul Rahman University in Kuala Lumpur.

International ‘Ironman Triathlon’:
- The International Ironman Triathlon was held in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
- Three types of competitions were held in which 3.8 km distance swimming competition, 180 km distance cycling competition and 42.2 km distance marathon.
- Border Security Force soldier Harish Kajla has won the International ‘Ironman Triathlon’ which is considered to be the toughest sports competition in the world.
- Through this, he has earned the honour of being the first Central Armed Police Force soldier to achieve this feat.
Lata Mangeshkar Award:
- Singer K S Chitra and Bollywood music composer Uttam Singh have been announced with the Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Madhya Pradesh Government.
- The Government of Madhya Pradesh has been awarding the Lata Mangeshkar Award since 1984 to recognize excellence in the field of film music at the national level.
- Famous singer Lata Mangeshkar was born in 1929 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
- Bollywood music composer Uttam Singh (2022) and famous singer K S Chitra (2023) will be awarded.
- The awards will be presented on September 28, Lata Mangeshkar’s birthday.
Committee for the Protection of Doctors:
- The Supreme Court also set up a 10-member national task force to formulate regulations to ensure the safety of doctors.
- The committee headed by Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of Medical Services, AIIMS Delhi Director M. Srinivas, National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology Director Pratima Murthy.
Program for Destitute Girl Child:
- The Madras High Court has praised the program for destitute girls implemented by the Tamil Nadu government.
- In order to benefit destitute, affected girl children and students, the Child Welfare and Special Services Department provides them with food, clothing, uniform, education.
- The Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme, launched in 1992 by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, was a pioneering and path-changing scheme for the welfare of the girl child.
- The Girl Child Protection Program aims to prevent gender discrimination by protecting and empowering the rights of the girl child through direct government investment.
‘Friends of Library’ Scheme:
- Friends of Library program is to visit the homes of the readers and deliver the books.
- The Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced the “Friends of Library” scheme to provide books directly to those who cannot access government-run libraries.
- This scheme will be helpful for people with disabilities, elderly, children and hospital inpatients who cannot go to the library.
World Senior Citizens Day: 21 August
- World Senior Citizens Day is celebrated worldwide on 21st August every year.
- It also aims to help raise awareness of the plight of senior citizens through an anti-aging campaign.
