Vibrant Villages Programme:

• A high-level review meeting was held in Delhi under the chairmanship of Amit Shah regarding the implementation of Vibrant Villages Program of the Central Government.
• Amit Shah said at the summit meeting that employment should be created for the residents of the villages in the border areas of the country.
• Under the Vibrant Villages scheme, 136 villages in border areas have been connected through 113 all-weather road projects at a cost of Rs 2,420 crore.
• The Government approved the Vibrant Villages Program on 15 February 2023 as a centrally funded scheme with an allocation of Rs 4800 crore for comprehensive development of selected villages in 46 constituencies from 2022-23 to 2025-26.
• It includes 19 districts bordering the northern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand and UT of Ladakh.
• The objective of the scheme is comprehensive development of these villages to improve the standard of living of the people and thereby reverse migration.
• The program envisages interventions to create opportunities for livelihood creation through agriculture, horticulture, tourism and cultural heritage, skill development and entrepreneurship, development of cooperative societies to manage livelihood opportunities including agriculture, horticulture, medicinal plant cultivation.

 

BRICS Parliamentary Conference:

• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who participated in the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Conference held in St. Petersburg, Russia, held bilateral talks with the heads of parliaments of 5 countries including Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Egypt, and Uzbekistan.
• Issues such as Indian culture, yoga, defence cooperation, education of Indian students were discussed in this meeting.
• The 10th BRICS Parliamentary Conference was held on July 11 and 12 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh participated in the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Meeting.
• Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who chaired the Indian Parliamentary Committee in this conference, addressed that sustainable development also includes environmental protection.
• The five new members of BRICS are: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
• BRICS is an international grouping of five developing countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

First-ever media conference in India:

• The World Audio Video and Entertainment Summit will be held for the first time in India in the state of Goa this coming November.
• It has been decided to strengthen the structure of the media sector and publish quality works. International Film Festival will be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.
• For the first time, ‘Waves’ conference for the media industry will also be held in Goa
• Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
• Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

School Breakfast Scheme Expansion:

• Chief Minister M.K.Stalin will inaugurate the expansion of the breakfast program in Tiruvallur district’s Kadambathur on July 15.
• It was announced in the Tamil Nadu government’s financial statement for the current year that the breakfast scheme will be extended to government-aided primary schools as well.
• This project was launched on 15th September last year.
• Initially, this scheme was implemented in some municipalities, municipalities and some remote villages.
• One lakh 14 thousand children were provided food in the first phase of this scheme.
• Now this scheme has been extended to all government schools in Tamil Nadu.
• 17 lakh children studying in class I to V can benefit from this scheme.

Ivory Chessman in excavation:

• A tusk made of ivory was found in an underground excavation near Tiruppuvanam, Sivagangai district.
• Cylindrical in shape, this Chessman has a slightly hemispherical head and a flat base.
• The 10th phase of excavation in Keeladi has been going on since June 18.
• In the excavation conducted so far, glass beads, copper objects, potsherds inscribed with the Tamil character ‘Tha’ and potsherds with fish symbols have been found.

1. In the by-elections to 12 assembly constituencies in 6 states including West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh, ‘India’ coalition parties won 9 seats.

3. On the occasion of World Skydiving Day (July 13) ‘Skydiving’ adventure sports facility has been launched at Narnaul, Haryana.
4. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act was passed in Parliament in 2019 to abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two Union Territories (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh).
5. The first ship carrying foodstuff from India has reached the port of Attu, Maldives, in a bid to reduce the hassles and costs of importing to the southern part of the Maldives.
6. In Himachal Pradesh, it has been decided to completely cancel the electricity subsidy for income tax payers to change the scheme rules for providing free electricity up to 125 units per month to households.
7. Former Chief Minister Kamaraj’s birthday is celebrated on 15th July every year as Education Development Day.
8. Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova has won the Wimbledon Women’s Singles title for the first time.
