Important Facts:

  1. In the by-elections to 12 assembly constituencies in 6 states including West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh, ‘India’ coalition parties won 9 seats.
  2. India has opened 2 new immigration and passport application centres in Seattle, USA.
  3. On the occasion of World Skydiving Day (July 13) ‘Skydiving’ adventure sports facility has been launched at Narnaul, Haryana.
  4. The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act was passed in Parliament in 2019 to abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two Union Territories (Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh).
  5. The first ship carrying foodstuff from India has reached the port of Attu, Maldives, in a bid to reduce the hassles and costs of importing to the southern part of the Maldives.
  6. In Himachal Pradesh, it has been decided to completely cancel the electricity subsidy for income tax payers to change the scheme rules for providing free electricity up to 125 units per month to households.
  7. Former Chief Minister Kamaraj’s birthday is celebrated on 15th July every year as Education Development Day.
